All the entries are registry ones. Entries consist of an ODBC Oracle Data
source (This can either be a 9i or 8.1.7 depending on the site, and read from
the ini file for that site), a couple of environment values, and some
application specific ones. How can I send you the script, and associated ini
file?

Can you open up the permissions on a folder somewhere and designate it as
the temp directory? Maybe make it non obvious so the users can't really
tell. I've done this at other companies using a tool like xcacls.vbs but I
believe you could also do it through group policies.

It sounds like it really just changes some registry keys right? For the DNS
etc.. could you maybe open permissions on just the affected registry keys
and give the users a reg file instead to switch?

When running this tool what exactly are you doing? It may be possible to
find what is causing the tmp files and remove that part? Personally I make
many changes to the installation properties that may help. If you'd like
you can send me your script and I can review for you.

Are you using any tools with your terminal server, I know we use to use one
that kind of governed changes and stuff.. forget its name now... but I was
thinking you could use something like that.

The executable allows a user to switch settings, allowing the user to use

different DSN, and some User Variables, in order to get data from

Oracle Servers. E.G if a user's deault Oracle Server is Server A, and he
wishes to get data from Server B, he can use the executable (built as an

"Switch Sites"tool is already being used gIobally on XP daesktops, and I
want
to keep the same tool Terminal Servers

So are you saying that the install fails if this specific temp file
location
is locked down? It doesn't go to another location? My guess is it is
reading your system variables to find out where the temp location it can
use
is.
Also you said you are installing this on Terminal server, you are
installing
in the right mode right? With what permissions? Are you trying to have
a
regular user do it or are you using a tool like SMS to push it out?

I have tried that, and it has no effect. It still writes the 4 files in
C:\Windows\Temp. They appear to be SMS Installer's own files.

I have an EXE built via SMS Installer, that I am able to run on XP.
When
I
run the Executable, it creates 4 files in C:\WINDOWS\TEMP (1 exe and
3
TMP
all with ~GL_***) While running on an XP box is OK, when I try to
run
it
on a
Terminal Server, this is not OK as the C:\Windows\Temp folder is
locked
down.
Is there anyway I can redirect these files to another folder
