Re: Help with registry edits not being set

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

ohhh...

First SMS does not use either program, it uses programic functions etc... to
make the connections and edit things.

It could be that on Windows 2000 machine those settings aren't allowed??
not sure.

Windows XP I don't think there is a regedt32 anymore, if you type that it
still opens regedit.

there is another program out there called reg.exe that you could call from
within SMS to try to do the registry updates?

You would do an install file to install reg.exe and then do a execute
reg.exe with the right command lines to get your stuff in there?

You could also possibly just go to regedit, right click and export the keys
you want to a .reg file.

Using SMSI do an "install file" and put this *.reg file someplace on the
client. Then do a execute on the *.reg file you place down there?

I guess the first step is to determine whether for sure Windows 2000 can do
those types of entries?
