So, basically, the benefit here is that a domain admin have all the tools he/she might need on any computer he/she will work on and can choose whether to install it or not if needed on that certain computer.
This is what I understood, is this correct?

There is nothing really to it, take ConfigMgr toolkit as an example http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=948e477e-fd3b-4a09-9015-141683c7ad5f&DisplayLang=en
· Download the toolkit
· Expand the Zip file
· Create a Collection for Domain Admin
· Create a package for Called “ConfigMgr Toolkit”
· Point to the CcmTools.msi for source files
· Create a program called “ConfigMgr toolkit”
· Use CcmTools.msi for the command line
· Distribute the package to DPs
· Create an optional advertisement
· Install it when needed

Can you please tell me more details about how you use AD Security Group for software distribution?
Especially the part with Service desk staff and the admin tools you advertisied to them.
To avoid more offtopic posts, feel free to reply only to me.
P.S. Sherry's post was very helpful as he explained why one should use or not use AD system group.
Thank you,
Vit

We have AD Security Group discovery method running in our SMS and I would
like to try and send out software to members of a given group. How difficult
is it and how does it differ from deploying a package to a machine based
collection?
No difficult at all. It is the same but different to target a Security group over PCs.
So lets say I want to send out MS Visio 2003 to the 'MAD\Sales Force' team.
Does SMS only look for a member of that group logged in user regardless of
what machine they are at?
Sort of, When targeting security group it is not the server that does all the work it is the client which does all the work.
What if a user logs into multiple PCs while the
advertisement is running, will it install multiple times?
Yes
When setting the
program, do I select install only when user logs in?
Are you trying to send this as a mandatory or optional advertisement?
Anyone else use AD Security Groups for deployment?
I use them all the time. Particularly for Admin / Service desk staff. I have a habit of send all advertisement to Service desk staff as an optional advertisement. This allow them to installed when needed. Plus I included adverts for Admin tools, like SMStrace, firewall checker, etc.
