Re: Deploying IE7 with ITMUV3?

That's interesting... perhaps IE 7 will be in the Feb '08 CAB. I did check
the current ITMU before my last post to you and it was not there. Your quote
matches my earlier reply to you, if you want to deploy IE 7 sooner, you'll
need to create your own deployment package. I'd recommend waiting a couple
of weeks (if you can), it may be part of the next ITMU CAB.

No I mean deploy the full intitial IE7 installation upgrading from IE6.
Here
is what I found from Microsoft:

The removal of Windows Internet Explorer 7 from the WSUS catalog in
October
2007 stopped the reporting of inventory and deployment for Windows
Internet
Explorer 7 through the Inventory Tool for Microsoft Updates (ITMU) of
Systems
Management Server (SMS) 2003. The February 2008 SMS 2003 ITMU cab will
include Windows Internet Explorer 7. Until that time, customers can create
a
standard Windows Internet Explorer 7 MSI installation by using the IEAK 7.

I've created an ITMU IE& package. The microsoft updates tool scan
completes
successfully but logs are saying nothing is applicable. I've tried
this
on a
few machines with the same results, all have IE6 installed. I am using
the
latest scan package with a 1/22/08 cab file so everything is up to
date.
I
do not even see IE7 listed as applicable in the patchinstall.log or
listed
as
installed OR applicable in the SMSWusHandler.log. Did Microsoft take
it
out
of the scan? How is everyone else deploying IE7 with SMS 2003?

I'm not sure I follow you re: ITMU IE7 package? If you want to deploy
IE7,
I'd suggest a separate SMS package. Once IE7 is installed, ITMU could be
used to deploy relevant post IE 7 updates.
