1 and 2, Yes, I have had this problem is RC since the beginning, but until
the new version of SMS, I only had to worry about it on servers and a few
machines. And for those, changing the mouse setting was no big deal. With
the new version, I would have to change it for every machine I administer,
over 600. Additionally, with using the SMS with them logged on, I can't
change the mouse setting for me without affecting them. So I can't do that.
3 I am not sure how remote assistance would work, if I am the one logging on
from a remote location. How can then initiate the assistance and then log
off for me to log in. My users do not have admin rights so some things would
require them to log off.
4 Thanks for that suggestion, we may need to look into other tools is
Microsoft can't make this work better.

1- I'm a righty; so although I can empathize, I don't really feel your pain..
Just as a guess, I would assume you would encounter this issue with any
remote control software. I'm not aware of any RC which would auto-adjust for
you. Do you know of one?
2- I would assume that with many RC softwares, you would see similar
issues--it is to do with video support as you've noticed. I am not aware of
any workaround with regards to Remote Desktop.
3- Remote Assistance
4- I've heard of people mentioning this issue (can't watch during login) as
a problem for them. I am unaware of any workarounds for Remote Desktop, nor
Remote Assistance. If this is really an issue; you might want to evaluate
additional remote control utilities. There are plenty to choose from.
If it helps; in addition to Remote Desktop and Remote Assistance, our Help
desk has available to them Live Meeting, as well as a 3rd party java/web
based Remote Control utility. In an informal quick query to Help desk staff;
about 1/2 use Remote Assistance first, and the other 1/2 use the Java-based
first when an end user requests a Remote Control session.

SMS 2007 was recently deployed. Since then I have had several issues with
the new version but don't know how to fix them or where to look for a
solution. Number 1, my mouse is a left hand mouse. Everytime I connnect to
a user machine I have to constantly switch between right and left clicks to
do what I want -- normal left on my machine, right on their machine. They
are logged in so I can't change the mouse settings nor do i want to for every
machine I support. Number 2, I have encountered several software packages
that will not run through remote desktop, noteable software that uses
directdraw acceleration. Number 3, if I am forced to remote desktop in when
a user is not logged in they cannot view what I am doing and sometimes there
is a training need. Number 4, there have been times when a user problem is
at log on (we do have some very low end users) and we can no longer watch
someone log in to make sure they are doing things correctly. Does anyone
have any ideas on any of this?
