I just replaced a box at one of my secondary sites. Only problem I am
having is that the MP troubleshooter is telling me that MPLIST and
MPCERT tests are failing. I have done the following:
Remove MP from SS.
Run ccmclean /mp
Remove IIS.
Reboot.
Reinstall IIS
Reinstall MP
To no avail...
Also, I have removed and readded the Secondary Site computer account
name in the Primary Site server "SMS_SIteSystemtoSQLConnection" group.
Any thoughts? When I remove the MP from the SS server, do I need to
remove the SMS-MP-XXX-YYYYYY entry from the System Management Group in
the AD? (and let it readd when I check the box again)
Have you verified that your secondary site is communicating with the parent
sms sites database?
Hint: open query analyzer, point it at the parents SQL Server installation
and execute:
sp_who2
Do you see the secondary site as a connected device?

OK....finally got things resolved.
Here is the order of events that I followed:
Set MP server to use named pipes, rather than TCP as primary
connection.
Set SMS parent site server to use named pipes, rather than TCP as
primary connection
Deinstalled MP
Deinstalled IIS
Ran ccmclean.exe /all
Ran ccmdelcert
Installed MDAC 2.8
Rebooted server
Installed IIS
Installed MP
Waited for SMS Agent Host service to appear.
Rebooted server.
At this point, I logged into the SMS parent sight and ran sp_who2.
The box that I installed the MP on, now showed up. A few minutes
later, I was able to gain access to the MP website. (blank page and
string of numbers.)
Thanks for all the help Steve and Kim...
