First, by default how long does it take for a client to get the package once
added to a software delivery collection? I read somewhere saying 1 hour.

I have pushed a package to computers. Some of them got the popup message
for installation but others are not. But I can see it in advertised program
or add/remove. So, how the notification works? Is it part of SMS client
function? How to control it so user can get the propmt once logged on or
after a few minutes?

Thanks,

Clients look for new policies at their Management Point ~2minutes
after boot, and then by default once an hour (at a client look at
policyagent.log, and you'll see entries for "Requesting Machine policy
assignments".

As for the notification, I've got it off by default site-wide (sms
console, site settings, Client agents, Advertised Programs Client
Agent, Notification tab, unchecked everything there). Although the
default for checking for policies is 60 minutes, in the client agent
properties, General tab, Advanced Client settings, you can change the
setting. But I'd get advice from someone (more knowledgable than I)
about the ramifications of shortening that value.

Since I've got notification off, I don't have any practical knowledge/
experience with the notification popup. Perhaps someone else can
chime in; but I suspect that the popup notification about "new program
available" times out after a while--so perhaps if the user is in a
meeting/at lunch, the popup disappears after a while? Just a random
thought.
