I have an SMS 2003 Sp2 enviornment using advanced security with all Advanced
Clients. If I advertise a package with out assigning it the it does not
appear in the Run Advertised Programs Applet (blank gey) in the Control Panel
or in Add/Remove (Blank) . In execmgr.log you see the advert get recieved by
the client.
If Assign the Advertisement it runs correctly.
On one of my clients I noticed that the following in execmgr.log:
"Failed to create registry key Software\Microsoft\Sms\Mobile Client\Software
Distribution\Presented Programs at service startup, error 5.
I noticed that the Presented Programs key does not get populated on as it
does in my lab at home. Even on those that the key is populated the Run
Advertised Programs Applet remains blank gey.
I verified that interactive has the following rights to the Presented
Programs key
Query Value
Create SubKey
Enumerate SubKeys
Notify
Read Control
Any constructive suggestions would be great
I've never seen anything exactly like what you describe, but I would
make sure you have all logging enabled and see if it divulges any more
info. See the following for info on turning extra logging:
