Re: MP problems following sms hardware move

Hi PocketJacks,

I have the same problem as you. We moved the SMS site system to a new
hardware. I am about to following the fix the knowledge base recommended.
I noticed you ran into problems after following the articles. What did you
do to fix the HTTP request, and he default website - SMS_slp AND
sms_DP_SMSPKGE$?
Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks for your help.

I ran through the KB article mentioned previously and now I'm
receiving the following error (every hour) in the
SMS_MP_Control_Manager:

MP Control Manager detected MP is not responding to HTTP requests. The
http error is Service Unavailable.

Also from the Default website I am missing now the SMS_SLP and
SMS_DP_SMSPKGE$. These were present before completing the KB article.

I am running through the suggested fixes but if you have any ideas
I'd greatly appreciate it?

Very helpful replies ... much appreciated.

I had tried removing and re-adding the Management Point component to no
avail.
I double-checked all IIS requirements and even re-installed BITS but I
didn't completely re-install IIS.

Unfortunately, before I saw your replies I ended up manually installing
the Management Point using the command: MPsetup.exe /install
/siteserver:<servername>

This worked fine from looking at the mpsetup.log and I received no more
errors in the SMS_MP_Control_Manager. All the components are now
install under IIS.
When I run the MPTroubleshooter from the Toolkit 2 I receive 1 error on
the Post-Implementation tab:

"BITS Server Extensions are not enabled on <servername>"

I have checked and these are enabled under IIS - Web Extensions. Any
ideas?

Is there any other MP tests I should carry out or would you recommend I
still follow the KB article?

Thanks again

you could also have a look at this kb article that desribes what Steve
mentioned: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/922367/en-us

That took 17 steps, for my 2 sentences :-)

Thanks for the kb reference!

Steve
