Well, I'd really like to select the Disovery Data Collection cycle, but it is
not listed.
I only have the two actions available on the clients exhibiting this issue:
Machine Policy Retrieval & Evaluation Cycle
User Policy Retrieval & Evaluation Cycle
How do I fix this? I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the client,
no change.
Thanks.

In SMS Client machine>Open the System Management applet from control panel.
and select the discovery data collection cycle and click the Initiate action
button and then click OK.
In SMS admin console >Collection >All Systems>Rt. click and select All
tasks>Update Collection membership and then click OK
Then refersh the All systems collection
Then you can run the query also

OK, I'm fairly new to SMS, but the Heartbeat discovery was set for 1 week, I
changed it to 8 hours.
How do I initiate a discovery data collection cycle action for one machine?
Thanks

This probably because the heartbeat discovery is failing on the SMS client.
For test, try to initiate the discovery data collection cycle action for one
of the machine and then update the collection. If it worked it means you need
run the heartbeat for shorter period.
Hope this may resolve the issue.

I have a single site 2003 SMS installation with XP/2000/Server 2000/2003
Clients.
I have several 2000/2003 servers that show up under non-client query and
pushed the Advanced Client to them, they show full install and the Systems
Management applet under control panel shows they are assigned to the site
(EQX).
However, when I go to the SMS server and run the client query, they do not
show up.
Anyone have any ideas as to why this is so?
