Here is my stupid method of verifing that the Proxy MP is being used.
1) Verify the LocationServices.log indicates the proxy MP is your secondary
and that it is your local MP.
2) Force HW inventory on a advanced client with in the secondary sites
boundaries
3) In the SMS_CCM\logs folder on the proxy MP verify that the inventory was
processed by parsing the MP_Hinv.log there should be a line like
"Delta report from client CLIENTNAME, action description = Hardware"
If you are going to do client discovery/installation at the secondary set
client push to hard code the parent sites site code.

I have been searching the groups for a couple of days trying to find an
answer to my current situation. I am not sure if I am just not
searching correctly but I figured at this point it would be more
efficient to just ask the question rather than continuing the search.
I currently have a primary SMS site in a parent domain and a newly
installed secondary SMS site in a child domain. I have excluded the
boundaries of the secondary site in the primary's config but all of the
clients that I would expect to use the secondary's MP are continuing to
use the primary's Management point. Since this is a newly installed
secondary site ( one server holds all of the roles, MP, DP, etc... ) I
admit that I might have left reference to the clients in the primary's
config somewhere. I just have no idea where. I have modified the
boundaries as previously stated, I have checked the discovery methods,
but I still cannot find the reference that is causing this issue. I
haven't been able to find anything on how the MP selection is
determined, so I can't trace back to the problem. Does anyone have any
ideas on how I can have the clients in the secondary sites boundaries
use it as a MP?
Hi there,
Advanced clients can only be assigned to a primary site server.
This link should help explain:
