Collecting USB device data

To All:
I was wondering if there's a way to inventory USB devices in SMS2003.
We have a need to know all of the machines in our environment which have
biometric devices connected to them (USB TouchChip pads & card readers).
I have found the exact location in WMI namespace for the deviceID,
Description from the Win32_PnPEntity property.
I have even found a .MOF file to use for this on
http://www.myitforum.com , but the .MOF would not compile so I had to
change the namespace at the top of the mof to include \\.\root\cimv2\sms
.. I am not sure if this is the correct namespace to include in the mof,
but when I compiled it and did a hardware inventory on my machine - it
now includes a list of USB devices, but not the current list - just a
history of devices.
I am reading in the operations manual and found that the default
configuration for the data that the inventory agent collects is in yet
another namespace.
If anyone has had experience with this or could poing me in the correct
general direction I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks!
Mark
