Problems on SMS server after Advanced Client installation

Hi,
We want to patch our SMS primary servers with SMS itself, but often we
experience problems after trying to install an advanced client on a primary
SMS server (corruption of WMI).
I've tried to install the advanced client but after this the MP stopped
working. A rebuilt of the WMI database fixed this issue but the systems
management tab in control panel is totally empty (no components, nothing on
the general tab).
CCMclean does not remove anything (allthough it says successful).
When trying to run the client.msi it comes back with an error "SMS Advanced
client does not support per-user installations".
In the client .msi log I also notice this error "A newer version of the SMS
MP is installed. Cannot continue installing this version". I am installing
the latest advanced client on this machine!! The ccmsetup.log says
Installation failed with error code 1603 . I tried an msiexec /unreg and
regserver again ,but that didn't help either.
Machine is rebooted as well.
I don't have any clue on how to proceed with this problem anymore? Ideas are
very welcome!!!
