ok, I am using sms 2003 with sp1, and I'm new to this so please bare with me.

I have read the sms 2003 operations gude, its very long but I still dont'
have the answers I am looking for, it must be me because I'm not finding a
"how to" and I'm not understanding a couple of very basic things.

I am trying not to use active directory since I do not have the ability to
have access to modify any groups our containers in AD. so I am trying to tie
in to our dhcp servers or some other means to try and locate the user I want
to install to. in the end it will be about 100 users but thats way down the
line.

I have a test site that is a member of a huge domain. for whatever reason
my discovery does not work for anything other than the entire domain of over
1000 users. in my collections I can only populate "all users" and "all user
groups" what I don't understand is how to micromanage this into just picking
out the user I want and adding it to my own personal collection of test
machines. I cannot seem to get the client push to work either. What I don't
understand is how to pick one single client and "install the client" all of
the test machines are using windows xp, and this is on a server 2003 server
with a gigabit network. I don't understand how to set my boundries, I was
under the impression that you can set an ip range and scan for users in that
range to install clients to but I can't get it to do this either. for right
now I just want to be able to complete a client install via the advanced
client. I read somewhere that one possible way to install the client is via
an executable file, but I didn't find a comprehensive how to either. any
information is greatly appreciated.

status right now from what I can tell is that I have sms installed, I have
tried to configure every form of network discovery and the only one that
seems to return anything is the network discovery where I have included the
name.
