Eric--
Thanks for adding admin.
Susana--
The warning you are getting is normal, what has happened is that Active
Directory Discovery is having problems getting all the information it wants
from Active Directory. Luckily the information it is not getting is not
critical, so it creates a DDR anyway. Typically we see this for Computers or
Users that are only a member of a single group, thus they only have a
default group attribute in AD and no groups list. That causes us to get a
blank groups list, which we don't know if it is because of an error in AD or
the setup of the particular object in AD.
Extending the AD Schema is not a delicate as you seem to beleive.
Basically you can only add to it you can't delete from it, so you could
never accidentally delete a piece of critical information. You could over
extend your AD schema, causing performance problems, but not cause a
critical failure.
What we do is create about 10 new object types and about 25 new
properties (That is a tiny increase overall) that allow SMS clients to find
information like the site boundaries and location of critical SMS site
systems in AD. This allows better security than advertising it in WINS.
Hopefully that helps.
