Hi Kim,
Thanks for your reply. The SLP and default MP were registered in WINS, the
clients were installing and getting assigned to the MP...for whatever reason
they couldn't reach it.
I was able to get this problem fixed…I am not sure what did it but this is
what we did at the site that was having the problems:
1. Created a second WINS entry (first was for the MP at the Central Site)
for the MP at the Child Primary (problematic) site.
2. Had the Network Admin at the site verify his WINS, DNS and DHCP
configurations.
- Discovered the DNS suffix for the AD site was not in the DHCP
configuration.
- The WINS entries were reversed. The WINS entry for the server that was
Local to that site was the secondary, and the Global (does not contain SLP
and MP entries, since we can’t synch/share tables to it) was the primary.
