I'm trying to administer my Sms2003 server via the admin console on an XP Pro
sp1 machine while connected remotely. With a vpn connection and opening the
console on the local machine and also when connected to the Sms Server via
Term Services and using the console on the server, the problem is the same.
The connection to the site db appears to be made ok and the main console tree
items appear (Site Hierarchy, Collections, Packages, etc) but if I try to
drill down to useful info nothing shows. For example if I try to look at
Collections, I get an hour glass and "There are no items to show in this
view".

I found the following post re: Dcom:
**
. From the Start menu, click Run and type Dcomcnfg.exe.
2. Click on Component Services so it is highlighted. Then click on the
computer icon in
the tool bar.
3. In the My Computer Properties dialog box, on the COM Security tab, in the
Access
Permissions section, click Edit Limits.
4. In the Access Permissions dialog box, grant Anonymous Logon allow Remote
Access.

* Reboot after making these changes.

**
I did add anonymous and gave "allow" for "access permission" and rebooted
but the situation remained unchanged.
Insight appreciated.
