I'll reply here rather than to each other post.
Terry, the anger came from another (stress on another) sales meeting where I
had to fend off aggressive salespeople who pitch drivel such as stated in my
original post to people who, while they hold the purse-strings and make the
decisions on what to buy, aren't the most technically minded group you'll
ever meet. If I told them Bill Gates was a martian and backed it up with a
song-and-dance, they'd probably believe it and buy elsewhere. I apologize to
all for my anger leaking through to my email.
Kim, I totally agree. I am a big supporter of SMS, but sometimes I feel like
I am the only one (around here anyhow) and the weight gets to be a bit much.
I've worked with Wally Mead (not together, but through 6 or more bug reports
I sent through him over the past 5 years) and know that he is an SMS Wizard.
I can only hope that all on his team are as well. However, what I deal with
here is the perception that is put forth each time we show the client all the
great things MS has is store, only to see the goal slip further down the
calendar. It's just a bit frustrating and I take my (stress MY) SMS
personally and very seriously.
Cathy, Thanks for the info and checking on this for me, I appreciate it
greatly.
Keep in mind that SP1 for SMS2003 has been in the works for some time
though, and while the release date of Q3-2004 is now the target (set some
months ago), there have been 2 other release goals since SP1 was first
listed... both of which have come and gone. All we see on our end, though, is
a date change on the website and no "and this is why we decided to do this"
listing. I KNOW it is to improve the end product, but it would be helpful to
be able to explain this to the client with something from Microsoft and not
just my word on the likely causes.

Thanks all
Mike
