Carl,
1 - Yes, you need to deploy an MP so the advanced clients can communicate
with your site server. Go into the Site Systems node in your admin UI and
either add the site role to the existing SMS server or add a new server.
Check out the deploying clients section in the Concepts, Planning and
Deployment Guide docs on your SMS 2003 cd. There is a new version here
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=784838B3-34E0-4122-B3E2-17C5B4EEF8F4&displaylang=en.
Other docs are here...
http://www.microsoft.com/smserver/techinfo/deployment/default.asp
2 - Put a proxy management point and a distribution point at your remote
site. Your advanced clients must be assigned to a primary site, but will
use resources local to them given the roaming boundaries are setup
correctly. Check out the roaming white paper at
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=37ac2246-453a-4418-b026-f7140a6fce3c&DisplayLang=en
for more information.
3 - no question 3 below
4 - Not sure. I'd create a separate post and ask that question.
5 - Check out www.microsoft.com/smserver for information on SMS 2003 and
migration to AD. There are some good resources there.
Good luck.
