Hi,
SMS2.0 SP5 on Win2K SP3 and SQL 7.0 in a single central site structure.
Some things in SMS don't seem to be working, like collection update, and
logging to most log files. The only error that I can see is that the
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\SMS\Identification registry key is missing!
This started occurring about a week or so back, but I cannot see why (i.e.
cannot relate it to any changes in the domain or SMS).
What would cause this key to go missing, and how can I recover it? Backups
run each night, and they seem to work. I will look at recovering the
registry keys from a previous backup, but am worried that something else may
be missing. I did a site reset that seemed to work OK, but did not create
the key. There are no errors in the event log or SQL log either.
Any ideas?
Cheers,
Les
