If it helps -
I ran the incif.exe and the invcm.exe manually on one of the failing machines
Then I ran the inventory.exe and it came with this error-
The detection operation failed, this may happen if your Windows Installer is disabled or the installtion information is corrupted. Please check the machine policies and run the inventory tool again.
I checked the windows Installer service - this is always set to manual on most machines, Still I changed it to auto and tried runing the inventory.exe again, but still the same error.
msiexec on that machine is 2.0 so that should be not the reason IT also has msxml3 sp4.
Are there any specific requirements with the version of Office?? The machines have Office 2000.
Any thoughts?
