I believe he is talking about the compressed packages that get sent to the
sites.

If you go to the Admin console >Site Systems you can specify a share
location. (Specify new>share)

So basically you would create the share on the server where you want the
packages, go to the console and specify the share, and then enable it as a
distribution point.

However, while this has worked for me to control the location of these
packages, right now I'm having a little issue where for some reason this
share isn't working, but that is for my own post ;)

It does work most of the time though.
