Forget Word.

What happens when you create a Web THEN create the link to pdf...IOW don't
convert to a Web, start with a Web.

I don't want a PDF file. I want an HTML. I am saving the original pub file
as
a web page.
Problem is the original pub file has a Link to a small PDF file (all saved
in its own separate folder).
What I want to do is have the web site contain a hyperlink to the PDF
file.
Sorry I did not make it clearer.
Thanks very much for taking an interest.
Adding to the confusion > if I create the same web page using word, with
the
same link, to the same PDF file (now in a separate folder with the word
web
files) it works OK

I don't understand why you create a pdf file; seems you want a html file.
This can be accomplished by saving the pub file as a webpage.

While in pub I create a link to a pdf file. Then I convert to a web
publication and save as an html file. I upload all the web files as
well
as
the pdf file to the server. All seems well but the link, while it looks
like
a hyperlink, does not open correctly. If I do the same steps in word
(create
link, convert to web, save etc) it works OK

Sounds like you create a link to a pdf file but you've changed the
file
to a
html file.

If you want the file to open as a html file, just change the .pub file
to
a
html file. (Save as a webpage).

I have a simple text paragraph plus a LINK to a separate PDF file.
I do the hyperlink steps to link to the PDF file
I convert this to a web publication and as save as htm file.
I then upload to the web.
If I do this in Word (2007) all is OK.
When I do the same steps in Pub 2007, the link to file shows the
address
but
does not work (open).
Appreciate any ideas as I have tried this over and over again.
