Re: How do I Search .pub file contents in Vista?

Hi, Mary.

Thanks for the encouraging word. ;<)

Of course, that naturally brings up the next question: How?

As I told Ed, it's not a critical issue for me, but I would like to know how to do it if it can be done.

That's not true, John, I can search for .pub files and they all come up.

How do I get Microsoft Publisher's .pub file contents to be included
in Vista's Search index?

The only time I've used Publisher was for the 3 years (7/1/2002-2005)
when I was editor of "The Spokesman", my local Rotary Club's weekly
newsletter. I have nearly 150 .pub files, each about 450 KB, all in
my folder E:\Rotary\The Spokesman.

When I click the Vista orb and type a Rotarian's name into the Search
box, I get a list of "hits" in Picture files and in emails, but .pub
files are never listed, even when I know that name is in many of
them. How do I get Vista's Search to find the name in those .pub
files?
I've used Indexing Options, of course, and made sure that my data
folder is included. Also, under Advanced | File Types, I've set the
.pub extension to "Index Properties and File Contents"; the listing
shows "Plain Text Filter" in the Filter Description column.

What am I doing wrong - or not doing?

Vista is not compatible with .pub files
and can only search for the file name.
