Re: web page newsletter

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

Personally I think sending a small email with an introductory paragraph, and
a link to more content on your website is a good way to go...

I am now guessing that the reason your JPGs are not visible is that they are
too large.

Take the time to go to the web group and read the last 50 posts or so, and
you will save yourself a lot of time and hassle...

Thanks to both. I am using Publisher 2003. I could send the newsletter as
a
PDF attachment, but I'd rather put it on my site & send a link to my
subscribers.

I uploaded both the index.htm file & the index_files to the server. Now
when
I go to the page, the GIF's are visible, but not the JPEG's. I can right
click & view the JPEG's on my server/control panel page, but they don't
show
on the page itself.

Obviously, I don't know much about this. I could email the company who
maintains my site, & they'd put it on, but I'd rather learn for myself
I'll
keep reading.

Assuming that you are using Pub 2003 or 2007, then use "Publish to the
Web"
to produce your html files, not "Save as, a web page". This produces
"filtered" html which is much lighter and a loads much more quickly.

If you aren't seeing the images on the site, that is usually because you
haven't uploaded all the html files produced by Publisher. When you
Publish
to the Web, you will get an index.htm file (your home page) and an
index_files folder that contains all the supporting graphics and
additional
pages. You apparently did not upload the index_files folder.

If you have follow up questions about Publisher webs, please post in the
web
group and we will try to help you there. Thanks.

I designed an HTML email newsletter in Publisher & had problems with
inconsistency on the receiver(s) end. After reading up on the subject,
I
decided to simply convert the newsletter to a web page, put it on the
server
& send my subscribers a plain text mail with a link to the page. So far
so
good. I converted the document to a web page, (save as, web page), &
put
it
up. When opened, however, the pictures aren't recognized. Did I save
the
page
incorrectly? How do I fix this?
