Call it a bug or a work around or what ever....
I think the issue is somehow caused by
continuing to save after other tasks (creating
a .pdf for example) have been performed.

Just my opinion...and for sure...you can never
have too many backups. Personally I keep
backups of my important files on two different
hard drives and also on CDs. You never know
when something can destroy your work flow.
