Re: Can I make something circular?

Carrie, Everything in Publisher is square. It is up to you to create round. The
width and height is correct. Create a circle the size of your CD and place it
inside the square. Keep your design inside the circle, use WordArt... or use
your drawing program's templates.

That's odd, I spend an hour or so tonight reading on websites that give
directions for printing directly on them. people on ebay have the trays for
sale, but I've been reading you can create your own. Supposedly the printers
sold in Canada come with this but not in the USA.

My printer has a tray now that feeds paper into it from the bottom, and it
looks like the cd holder slides in over this.

I just got to looking into it because I got a deal on blank DVD-R and it says
they are directly printable with injet printers.

Seems like the directions/software that came with my printer says this, too,
because at the time all I could imagine was putting the CD in the paper slot,
and didn't see how this would work.

This printer has 2 paper sources, one the regular one on the top and one the
tray that slides in the bottom.

I probably will never bother doing it, I just got to looking into it and
then wondered how to design something in a circle. Everything I see in
Publisher seems to be square.

Your printer will not print directly on CD/DVD media according to all the
documentation that I could find online from Canon's web site. It won't
handle the thickness of the media and if you attempt it you will probably
destroy the printer. The manual only specifies the following paper capacity:

"Paper Compatibility

Plain paper, U.S. #10 envelopes; Canon Specialty Papers: Glossy Photo
Paper (4x6, letter), High Resolution Paper (letter), Matte Photo Paper
(letter), Photo Paper Plus Glossy (4x6, 5x7, letter), Photo Paper Plus Double
Sided (5x7, letter), Photo Paper Plus Semi Gloss (4x6, letter), Photo Paper
Pro (4x6, letter), Bubble Jet Transparencies (letter) "

If you print on it and damage the printer, there goes the warranty (if it is
still valid.)

There are alternatives which I have used until I actually got a printer that
will print on the discs. I have used Neato labels and program. The labels
stick well to the tops of the disc and they have a device that will place the
label properly on the disc. They used to have a free program that will print
on the labels and the setup is fairly easy. Since Neato has started charging
for Media Face 4 I still use MF2 which can be downloaded for free here (next
to last program on list) : http://www.sonicspot.com/multimedialabelers.html.
This program will also print to many other standard CD/DVD labels that you
can buy at Staples, Office Depot, etc.

I have Publisher 2000, and am trying 2007

I've been looking for a way to make a document in a circle, for example a
CD/DVD label. Template? I have label makers, like in my CD/DVD burning
program (Nero Essentials) but it only makes square ones, I guess to put
inside a disc case. Everything I see in Publisher is square.

I've been looking into printing labels directly on discs (my Canon pixma
ip6000D will do this, if I buy or make a disc holding tray, going by how
they look, seems like one from an old CD-ROM drive would work) I'm not sure
if it's worth all the trouble it seems to be, just to put fancy graphics,
etc on discs, but I bought some blank DVDs that say they are Injet
printable. Aside from printing on discs, I got to thinking about printing on
a circle- design anyway.

When I think about it, I can't remember anything that sets up inside a
circle (even if it's then cut out of the paper) except the graphic programs
like PhotoShop, Flash, etc where you can draw a circle to start, but I don't
think have an actual template (correct size) for a CD/.DVD.

I just like to know things lik this, well... just to know (LOL)
