Yes, that's why I suggested you ask the file's originator to create the
.pdf file for you.

I have Cute PDF Writer on my computer which I think does the same thing as
Primo but you have to be able to open the file first before you can
convert it to a pdf isn't this right?

Adobe Acrobat is the big one but there are several low-cost/free
alternatives that can be used to create (but not edit) a .pdf file. I've
recommended PrimoPDF quite often. Even tho I have Acrobat, I have Primo
a
installed on my system as well. (I have it to provide support for
friends who use it.) It's a great little program that is very easy to
use. Oh - and it's free. My favorite price.

Ask the sender to send it as a .pdf file if getting the software is an
issue.

Thanks JoAnn, I would do that but the problem is that it's a file I
will need to download on a weekly basis, since it is updated weekly.
so it appears I will have to get the software somewhere that will
allow me to open it. I do appreciate the offer.

I just need to open the file not to edit.

No. Do you need to be able to edit the file or just see it?

I have a file that was created with Microsoft Publisher and I do
not have that program on my computer.

Is there a way to rename the file so that I can open it with word
or another program?
