Frustration printing envelopes

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

Hi All,

I have some envelopes on which I'd like to print addresses, using
Publisher 2003. They're rather small (14.5cm wide by 9cm high [5.71
inches wide by 3.54 inches high]), and I'm trying to print them on a hp
deksjet 990cxi printer.

My frustration is that in Word 2003, when printing addresses on
envelopes, you can choose a feed orientation, similar to 'insert
lengthways', where you feed the envelope in to the printer so that the
'top' is the short side of the envelope. I can't find how to do this in
Publisher 2003. So far, it seems to insist that that the envelopes be
fed in normal orientation (ie the same way you would hold the envelope
if you were reading the address on it).

Unfortunately, my paper tray doesn't have guides that reach that far
down into the tray, so most attempts to print these envelopes in
Publisher end up with the address skewed across the surface, because in
placing the tray back into the printer the envelope will often be
shifted from the straight feed position it should be in.

Is there any way, using Publisher, to get it to print on envelopes fed
in the lengthways orientation? I've spent a lot of time (and ruined a
lot of envelopes) experimenting with options in the page setup, without
any luck so far.

Alternatively, is there any tip or trick anyone can suggest to get this
to work? I want to use Publisher because I need to include a logo on
the envelope, and the evenvelope utility in Word doesn't appear to
allow you to include anything other than a mailing and return address.

Any help with this will be immensely appreciated!

Much warmth,

planetthoughtful
