Home network .pub file won't open...

Hi Folks,
My first visit here and I've searched google groups on this ng but no luck.

I had a laptop which has a .pub file that I want to copy to my home network.
I can access all the other .pub files on this laptop, but not this one file.
The error message says;
"...the file is locked because it is being used by another program. Please
close the other program..blah...blah". I've closed all programs, but no
luck. I've rebooted, renamed the file, moved it to another folder, but no
luck. Any ideas???

I'm using publisher 2000 sp-3 on both machines, xp pro on the laptop and xp
media edition on my other machine.
