You've posted your question to a newsgroup manned by volunteers. Depending
on how you located the group, you may not have read that part.

1. Your original post was confusing. You said "I have the original cd...
even have it loaded on one machine." That sounds as you if wanted to load
it on another system, otherwise you might have said "even have it loaded on
that machie already". I know, not the question.

2. Yes, I did recommend you get a good antivirus and keep it current. You
said "because of recent viruses and the age of the
machine 18 months now... I want to reformat and reinstall everything again".
I will grant you that at that point I should have realized that you were
talking about the same system in the first sentence HOWEVER the issue is the
virus thing. If you didn't have virus problems, you wouldn't have stated
that as a reason to reformat. Wanting to get rid of old files, clean things
up, etc is a valid reason to reformat. So is getting rid of viruses. I run
AVG and have never had any virus issues because I make sure the database is
current. I know, not the question.

3. I made an observation that was true - I didn't have to reformat in four
years. My point was that just because a system is "older" doesn't mean you
have to reformat. I know, not the question.

4. You came for an answer and I was giving you some facts that you may not
have known. A lot of people are under the mistaken idea that since the
software came on their computer, they can do whatever they want with it -
after all, they own it. If they'd ever read the EULA, they would know that
they don't "own" Microsoft software.

You were able to find the newsgroup, maybe thru the MS website. Did you
search the Support options? Try:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=fh;en-us;prodoffer38a&sd=MVP

You will see that Microsoft offers unlimited installation support at no
charge. You will have to pay for the toll phone charges but they are not the
type to dilly-dally around just to run up your phone bill. They have more
than enough to keep them busy.
