Matthew.
I'm no expert on "Word" but in the past I've had occasion to
produce something similar to that which you are attempting, so please
check with someone more knowledgeable than me.

However, if memory serves me right, I cursored to the chosen position
on the page and inserted the table there. Because of the way 'tables'
work, cells/rows/columns may be 'merged' which makes the dividing
lines disappear and contains text within the merge (as if it's a page
on its own) By the way, the lines may be either 'virtual' or 'actual'
which helps with layout formulation!

The insertion of a 'table' across the normal run of text, lets the
text re-commence after the completion of the box. This gives a
succession of Text-table-text. In effect, the 'table' displaces the
text in the area it occupies.

Enlarging the box vertically 'forces' down the re-commencing line
of text.

Sorry if this sounds complicated, but I'm writing this from long
term memory which at my age may well be a trifle faulty. *However*
I was able - by dint of trial and error - to make it work.

...but as I say, someone with more knowledge than I, will no
doubt make the theory clearer.

John

The reason for having text frames inside of text frames is so that some of the text can be formatted in three columns and some of the text formatted in one column.
