Much depends on the printer driver. I don't have any problems with
Postscript printers. Some non-Postscript printers do it no matter what. Some
(PS & non-PS) have an option to "print type as black". That feature comes in
handy for printing color documents (web pages are a good example) where the
type would be difficult or impossible to read in B/W. However it's a pain if
you really want the tint. I don't know specifically for the 1100, but check
deep into the printer settings. There may be a selection. Also, you may need
to lower the resolution to get a visible dot.
