Re: Problem publishing - jpeg pictures not converting to html

I'm using the 'Insert' function to add/modify a link. Haven't done any html
code.

The links go to the beginning of the page. I don't know how to link to a
specific place in the document. (which is why I have so many pages!)

Not using a Master Page.

Been trying to troubleshoot, without success. Have pulled in husband --
he's had no success. It's the almost-blind leading the blind here!

More thoughts...or questions. How are you writing the links to the other
pages in your site? Click on the navbar > Format > Navigation bar
properties. choose your second page link > modify link. Are you linked to a
'place in this document' and specifically page 2?

Your links on the page that you have loaded at http://splendidfaces.com/ are
all pointing to your C drive and the path includes splendidfaces.com folder.
file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/Karen%20Ken%20&%20Kelly/Desktop/SPLENDIDFACES.COM/index_files/aboutus.htm

Even the source code is looking to your C. drive for the images instead of
the index_files folder on your host drive.

You aren't using a Master Page are you? View > Master Page.

The issue is centered on why your links are written to your local C drive.
It may be because you are uploading the wrong folders. It may be that you
are writing the links incorrectly. It may be that when you Publish to the
web you are doing something wrong from that point. We can't look over your
shoulder, so you will have to troubleshoot it.

1. SPLENDIDFACES.COM\index_files
(of which there are a lot -- and I'm assuming the name of ea and every
file
for the arrows, logos, pix, etc you do not want/need...?) &
2. SPLENDIDFACES.COM\index.

['Long ago', when I used Pub 2000, it just uploaded. And Pub 2007
apparently doesn't. Or Dotster has changed from 'long ago'. <grimace>]

Karen,

What are the actual names of the files and folders you are uploading to

1. Using Publisher 2007.
2. DavidF -- done all that.
3. Dotster 'sees' all gifs and jpegs;
says all gifs & jpegs have to be converted to htm
files;
4. Don't know how to convert the pages intact to htm, since what I've
done
(which is what you said to do) hasn't worked for 6 times now.
5. Any other ideas?
6. BTW -- have talked to Dotster 5 times now. And still not up.
obviously!

Will change navbar location to left. But later. First want it UP.
Thanks
for the concise feedback. Any other feedback?

Hi, DavidF -- or Don or Spike or....!

I decided to 'just get it up', and then fuss with the details later.
So,
of
course, I can't get it up. The first page is up. At
splendidfaces.com .

Yes, I've ungrouped everything. And, thanks to Spike, it was not
onerous.
ctrl a is wonderful!

I didn't mess with thumbnails or anything. I figure I can do that
stuff
after it is up. If it will ever go up. Pub 2000 did not do this. It
just
published the entire darn website.

So, this is where I am:

I am using Firezilla to upload my website as an ftp to the hosting
site
(Dotster). The index file is in full html, including the pictures.
Therefore my home page comes up fine. Unfortunately I cannot figure
out
how
to get the remainder of the pages (26 more) in my website into html
format,
ideally each page as an entirety(?) Publisher 2007 puts everything
beyond my
home page into the index folder, and this is a mix of html (text
stuff)
and
gifs + jpegs (pictures). The hosting site will not accept gifs or
jpegs.
What do I do?

[Yes, I did search previous threads. None of them seem to answer this
question. ]
