Re: Help with Publisher 2007 - images

Anne,

I was able to download the file, and reproduce the error. I haven't figured
out how to fix it yet, but hopefully will have time later today to work on
it.

Thank you,

You send it Link: size 2.86
http://www.yousendit.com/download/U0d4OGNlZDVrYURIRGc9PQ

I deleted most of the images, but left at least 1 per page. Many of the
images are colors. There are 17 pages, # 17 doesn't link to the nav bar.
It's a link I will send for wholesale orders, so different pricing.

yes, I Published to the Web per instructions. All my pages point to Place
in this doc.

I update my site often, changing my schedule especially as new events get
booked, deleting the ones that have been done. And updating images with
the
latest pieces.
Thank you,
Anne

Thank you for responding!
OK - I clicked on View> Master page, and the page is empty. I can't see
how
to move content at all, nor can I delete the Master Page (not clickable).
I've looked in Publisher Help, and don't see how to do it.

I did upload both the index_files & index.htm to / in FileZilla. When I
look in my File Manager at SurfSpeedy, I see all the files. They're just
aimed at my C.

and to Rob: how do I put images anywhere? Images were added by clicking
Insert>Images> from file. Is there another way, or something more I
should
do?

You get the gold start today! Thank your for taking the time to
describe in
detail what you have done and tried, and all the relevant information.
It
makes it so much easier to help when we know all this detail.

Your work flow of Publish to the Web and directing your web output to
your
desktop is appropriate given you are using Vista and IE7. With the
introduction of IE7 the old description of how to ftp your files to
your
host does not work well. And it is good that you have chosen to use
FileZilla. Ultimately you will find this much easier than the other
possible
ways of ftp uploading.

I think I see two errors. When you publish to the web and direct the
web
files to your desktop, you should get an index.htm file (your home
page) and
an index_files folder that contains all the supporting graphics and the
other pages of your website. You need to upload the index_files folder
to
the same place on your host (the root directory) where you uploaded the
index.htm file.

The other error I think you have made is that you have put at least
your
navbar on a Master Page in Publisher. This would account for the links
pointing back to your C drive on your local computer. Go to View >
Master
Page and move all that content to your main page, republish and upload
both
the index.htm file and the index_files folder and see if that doesn't
fix
your site. Unfortunately the Master Page feature in Publisher does not
work
consistently or correctly, and should only be used for print
publications,
not webs.

I am also having a problem with pictures not showing up on my web
site:
www.blissdesigns.net.
I've been reading posts & googling for over a week, trying to figure
this
out.

One thing that seems different for me is the Publish to the Web
window
that
opens under File. There is no "Save In". It does open folders -
but
"My
Network Places" isn't an option anywhere. I have tried saving it in
many
locations - currently on my Desktop. The only options that I have
are
File
Name - and it has index, so I've left it at that. The next is Save
as
type
: with Web Page, Filtered as the only option.
When I it Save, the files do show up on my desktop.

I've then been using FileZilla to transfer the files to my web
server.
They
show up there, but all aimed at my C drive.
I also can use "upload" from my File Manager at Surf Speedy, my
server.

Using Publisher 2007, Vista, IE7. I've had a web page for years,
using
Surf
Speedy Site Builder. But just bought a new computer and Publisher
was
installed on it. It was so easy & fun to build a newer/better web
site,
just having problems getting it up. The site looks perfect when I
Preview
it, and when I click on index on my desktop. The site opens in IE,
with
this
location:
C:\Users\Anne\Desktop\index.htm
I did use Design Checker.
Can you help me, please?
