Re: Pictures and graphics visible in 'web site preview' but not on

John G.,

Du'oh!!!! I didn't even notice the scroll bar, and yes I do see the text
after I scroll down. And that suggests the problem is that the OP needs to
uncheck "rely on VML..." under tools > Options > web tab and uncheck "Allow
PNG..." while he is at it. That is part of the reason his oversized,
non-compressed images were taking so long to load...

It has been so long since someone posted using Pub 2003 with this option
checked, that when I saw the framing I immediately jumped to the conclusion
that it was the framing. My bad.

Thanks for the assist. Now if the OP will just come back and see this...

Spike,

I still get a blank page in FF. However, the Publisher source code is
there...hummm.

Interestingly, if I use your link in IE6, then at least I can also see
the other pages in the site. However if I start with
http://www.windwardpartners.net/ and then try the links to the other
pages, then IE will not show the page content either. It appears that you
must start with an absolute link to the index.htm file.

I hope she/he comes back and explains what he/she meant by 'Protected
Mode'. I am wondering if this is related to using IE8 beta? Do you know?

Please educate me about protected mode. I am trying to view the site
with FF 3.0.4 and nothing is visible. How do I change the settings to
see your site in FF? Thanks.

Actually there was something OP could do about it... problem was with
'Protected Mode'. And thanks, Spike, compressing the pictures helped
a great
deal.

I get nothing in FireFox 3. I think that is because the site is
framed. Look
at the source code.

Not much the OP can do about it as long as they aren't willing to pay
for
hosting. Nor will the site be indexed. Personally I can't understand
why a
business would make such a decision, while trying to save $5 a month.

Not sure where the compression tool is in 2003, in 2007 it is on
the
picture tool bar

interesting - I didn't realize you could get at the individual
images.
I
will go and compress them now.

Have you tried compressing the images?

Using Publisher 2003, I can see all graphics and pictures
(all
embedded)
in
'Web Site Preview' but when I publish to web (yes, including
the
subfolder
index_files) I can see only picture placeholders. Site
address
www.windwardpartners.net. I have gone through all earlier
suggestions re
Publisher view settings, updating video/graphics driver, etc.
Any
suggestions will be welcomed!
