Welcome back. Sounds like you have had some major adventures. I hope you
will post a link to some pictures someday... You may be safer working on
your website, but I am sure it isn't as much fun.

I don't know why you would see the index_files folder on your computer
without seeing the index.htm file. I am assuming that you have revised your
Publisher file (.pub), and then produced new web files/html files by
"Publish to the Web", not Save As a Web Page. Are you directing the output
to a folder on your hard drive to contain both the index.htm file and the
index_files folder? Did you look for the file and folder with Windows
Explorer or My Computer? The index.htm file should be at the same level and
same place as the index_files folder.

I hope you have just misspoken. A *.pub file is a Publisher file...is not a
web file. If you click on "yourwebsite.pub", whatever you call the Publisher
(.pub) file for your website, then it is impossible for a file to contain a
folder "index_files". I assume you really meant that you clicked on the
"folder" that contains all the Publisher generated web files, and
specifically the index.htm file, and the index_files folder..
Perhaps try creating a new folder on your computer where you can easily find
it. Now Publish to the Web and direct the html output to that new folder.
Make sure you get the right one. Open the folder and see if both the
index.htm file and the index_files folder are there with Windows Explorer or
My Computer. If so, try Filezilla.

I have mastered FileZilla, at least enough to transfer my saved .pub file
to
the website in the form of "index_files," but for some reason I cannot
upload
the home page (index.htm).
Not to sound too much like a neophyte, here is what I do:
1. I open "my computer," and and one of the icon folders on the right is
"ftp.lcn-hoa.com (my website)" which I open to examine the contents--shown
below:
_db_backups
index_files
stats
gdform.asp
index.htm
welcome.html
2. Now, the above contents are shown on the right side of my desktop
screen.
3. I then open my .pub file for my Publisher 2007 webpage (on the left
side
of the screen, under "my computer"), and can see only one item, as shown
below:
index_files.
I know that when one saves his work in the .pub file, all the changes are
ready for uploading to the website, using FileZilla.
4. Now, I drag and drop the index_files from the left side of my desktop
(under My Compuer) to the right side, and the contents of this updated
"index_files" replaces the website "index_files" inside of ftp.lcn-hoa.com
(my website).
5. The new index_files replaces ftp.lcn-hoa.com "index_files" on the right
side of my desktop, which does happen, because the time and date reflect
the
changes made to my .pub file.
QUESTION: Where is the home page located (index.htm) so I can drag and
drop
this file onto the right side of my desktop to replace the home page
(index.htm) file shown among the six items in #1 above.
When I use FileZilla, all the changed items in (index_files) from my .pub
file immediately replace the changed website pages to reflect that which I
saved when I made the changes to my .pub file.
I may NOT be doing the uploading correctly, but my method seems to work
OK.
All that is left is to find the "index.htm" file among the open files and
folders on the left side of my desktop (under "computer") and drag it into
the right side of the desktop, and then use filezilla to get the job done.
Did I give you too much information??
