Re: Major problems with pictures on homepage

Thanks for posting back. I am glad to hear that it worked out.

I suspect that when you added the pages to the original Pub file that you
corrupted the navigation bar, and in rebuilding the site you fixed that.
Just be careful when you add pages in the future...and or if it happens
again, then look to repair the navbar.

Hej David,
thank you for trying...I have been struggling with this for two weeks. I
did
exactly as you write - view - master page - and it comes up empty. So I
don't
think that is the problem. This morning, however, I opened an empty pub
file
and made a one-pager saying that there is work ongoing...and when I
uploaded
it, everything worked. So, a longshot: I opened a new file and spent the
day
copy-pasting. Published my new file to the web, uploaded it with the
SmartFTP
client (exactly as I did thousands of times with the corrupt file) and
everything worked perfectly. I don't know what was wrong, and I pray it
doesn't happen again, but at least it is solved for now. Thanks again for
your input. Kind regards,

Ok, then I am not sure what you are doing wrong, but all your images and
your links on your navbar are pointing to your C drive, on your local
computer. So some questions:

No insult intended, but are you sure that you aren't using a master page.
Open your Publisher file, go to View > Master Page. Do you have your menu
or
anything else on the Master page?

When you "Publish to the Web" and produce the HTML output, the index.htm
file and the "index-filer" folder, do you direct the output to your
computer
and then use a third party FTP client to upload your files?

What are the specific steps you take from the time that you open your
Publisher file to uploading the html files to your server? Something you
are
doing in this process is causing Publisher to write the links and the
paths
to your supporting images to your local computer.

Hej...maybe it will be easier to find a solution if I tell you I use
Publisher 2007 & Vista? Forgot to apply that information before...

Hej David,
I wish that would have been the solution but no, I am not using a
master
page. (I used a pre-defined Publisher template for websites
initially).
Any
other tips, please?

If you look at your site in FF you will notice that only the text is
visible. My guess is that you put the navbar and the images on a
master
page. Don't use a Master Page in a Pub web publication.

If that isn't the problem, post back.

A year ago I made a homepage using publisher and uploaded it to the
Internet
without any problems. A couple of weeks ago I added a few pages to
the pub
file, removed the old files from the ftp server and uploaded the
new
version
of my pub document (after "publish to the web", of course). Now
all
pictures
are replaced by red crosses. I have been struggling to find the
solution,
but
as far as I can see, the pictures in the html files are linked to
the
pictures on my harddisk drive, not to the uploaded pictures.
Looking
in
the
html files on the ftp server, there is the index-file and a folder
with
pictures & html doc "index-filer", as it is supposed to be.
Please,
please
help me out. The homepage address is www.hedekashus.se.
