David,
You sure put some time into helping people and as usual everthing you said
about this site was spot on.

One of my personal goals here in this newsgroup is to offer "constructive"
feedback and help. It takes a lot of courage to provide a link to a new
website and ask for feedback, and I admire and respect that. With that
goal in mind, I gotta say your site is pretty bad...but can be fixed.
You need to remove the background image behind the text:

It makes it impossible to read the text, and after all it is the text that
is the most important part of your site. Content is king, as they say.
I have not seen anyone use semi-transparent text boxes before in a Pub
web. I kind of like the effect, but it is a print format that does not
translate to html well. It seems to work ok in IE but in FireFox all the
text is converted to images. A couple examples:

http://www.plicorp.name/index_files/image461.png
While you might live with this, it does mean that any hyperlinks in those
text boxes will not work in FF. Personally, I believe that you need to
design so your pages will work well in both IE and FF, especially since it
is a business site. If you don't have FF on your computer, I recommend
that you download and install it, so you can test your pages. It is a
small download and easy install, and you can test your html before you
upload it.
Bottom line is that as "nice" as the semitransparency looks, you probably
shouldn't use it, at least in the body of the page...maybe OK in the
banner. The text in the body of your page does not show up in the code
even in IE...the search engines and webots will not be able to index you
site. Content is king...
Personally I would also get rid of the time and counter. I am sitting at
my computer...I know what time it is. The counter will not give you any
good information. Look to your host for webstats instead. Using a counter
on a page doesn't necessarily project the image I would assume you want.
Look, I am not an expert web designer, and my opinions are just that.
However, I think that many newbies and even some old pros fall into the
trap of adding "stuff" to their pages, and special effects just because
they can. And just because you can, doesn't mean you should. As you are
using Publisher, your pages should be simple anyway, so try to KISS, is my
best recommendation. The content is what is most important...not the bells
and whistles. Make your pages easy to read, easy to navigate, quick to
load and full of good content, and you will have a "good" site in my
opinion.
Here are two links that might help in planning the design of your site:

and no offense but:

I hope this is constructive. The good news is that you did stop and ask
for opinions before you built the whole site. Take a step back and
reevaluate what your goals are for your site, and what is the content.
Then design around those things. Good luck.
