I am guessing that when you say that PDF files "work", you mean that they
open in the browser automatically after clicking the link? That is because
most people have the Adobe Reader plug-in installed in the browser. Word and
Excel files won't open in a browser. You have to download those to the
computer and open them there...and of course you need to have Office
installed.
Alternatively, you haven't uploaded the files to your host, and/or your
wrote the links incorrectly. Reference: Including external files in a

I am currently developing my first web site but I ran into a problem I can
not locate a resolution to. I am trying to create a hyper link to a Word
and
Excel doc I have stored in my computer. I have been able to link pdf docs
which work but need these others to work as well. In the text I have
highlighted, right click, hyerlink and choose the doc. However, when I
preview the site these 2 links do not work. What do I need to do so I can
add
these?
