Re: Pub wont save or pub to web

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

Well yes but only last night as i thought maybe it would help me fix my
problems with publisher. i did find when i checked in computer managment
console that svchost -k netstat receives error 126 and cant fine module and
fails to start. im not geer head but me thinks this may be the root cause of
my issue I tried replacing svchost.exe and que.dll i beleive that was the
name of the dll file. im working from memory here as im at work now and was
researching this last evening.

My problem lies in any time i try to publish them to web using my ftp link
it comes back and tell me that i need to disable firewall ... when im not
running any firewall at the time and had disabled all antivi and antispyware.
also if i publish it to my desktop then all my links are then refed to my
desktop as the absolute path.

Im stuck and cant figure it out it worked great before my system crash a few
months ago and in that process recovered my system and have applied all
updated to windows xp home from MS.

so in sumation when i posted this i was using ms ie 6 and firefox as my main
browser. could not publish last night i updated ie 6 - ie7 it did not help !
i found that i could edit my main index with frontpage and that would fix the
links on it however i cant seem to edit anypages contained in the inde_files
folder if i do i lose all links to pics and everything.
??????

Thanks in advance David

I am betting that you also changed to IE7 from IE6, and with the new
"improved" security features, it is a bit more difficult to upload.

Reference: Prepare, publish, and maintain your Publisher Web site:

It is written for Pub 2007, but if you are using IE7 instead of IE6, then
the directions for using Vista would apply. FTP uploading has changed with
the introduction of IE7.

Personally I would suggest that if you are using FTP, I would consider
downloading and installing
the free FTP client FileZilla:
http://filezilla-project.org/ It is likely to be easier for you. Take the
time to also download the excellent documentation and read it.

If you Publish to the Web, and direct your output to your hard drive, the
links should not change. Just make sure that if you are using the subfolder
option, that you factor that into your links.

Hi Gang ! Got a problem with pub when I try to update my website. Since my
upgrade from 2003 to 2007 . I cant seem to Publish to the ftp site no
matter
what I Try . and if I save my site local then it looses all my absolute
paths. So when I upload it manually It does not work. LOL any ideas or
helpful hints would be appreciated.
