Re: Publisher 2003 won't republish, says folder is missing or dele

The first time I went to the site, it crashed IE6 on me. The second time I
did get it to load, so I am assuming that you did succeed in uploading after
writing your message?? If you continue to have problems connecting, go to
the tripod site and read the knowledge base about FTP uploading, and perhaps
that will lead to a solution.

I did notice that you uploaded the "rich" version of the Publisher html,
which is the heaviest. You should be doing a Publish to the Web to produce
your html files, not Save As a web page. I would suggest deleting the old
files on the server and uploading fresh.

Good luck.

Thanks David,
this worked great for one of my websites, the other one still cannot
upload.
Filezilla shows a connection and then waiting for welcome message from the
host but times out, any advice for this one? The host is a free host
without
www. in front,

Is this causing my problem?
Thanks again,

Since you are using IE7, I would suggest that you download, install and
use
http://filezilla-project.org/ to upload your site. It is a free FTP
client
that will make life easier. Download and read the documentation and
instructions on how to set it up and use it.

Then open your Publisher file, go to Tools > Options > Web tab and
uncheck
"Rely on VML..." and "Allow PNG...", and Compress your graphics:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/publisher/HA011266301033.aspx
Then when you Publish to the Web, direct your html files, the index.htm
and
index_files folder to your computer where you can find them. Then use
filezilla to upload those to your site.

I am having several problems with Publisher 2003, I also use Window XP
and
IE7, Ihave created two websites in Publisher and saved them as as
publisher
files. Then, uploaded the htm folder, index_files, to the ftp site,
nothing
worked even though they were htm files. I went ahead and uploaded the
index.htm file by iteself and only received the homepage without
pictures
and
no links were working. I checked the web preview and everything works
fine, I
then tried the ftp client and the same thing happened. Finally I was
able
to
load one website by publishing to web and typing in my domain. The
webpages
all worked and so did the links and pictures but it was on a two page
wide
webpage and I couldn't move the actual website below the ads posted by
the
host server. I upgraded the hosting services to elimiate the ads and
was
told
to cancel the other host account first before reloading to the new host
(same
domain) Now I have no web files at all other than my documents original
file
and everytime I try to republish to the new host (same domain) I get
error
messages stating that the documents in this folder are not available.
The
folder may have been moved or deleted, or network problems may be
preventing
a connection to the server. The error message box appears on top of the
original web address folder, when I click the error message away, I
type
in
the save name box index to see if it will still save in the correct
original
folder and recieve another error message with the same statement. I
click
ok.
and the Microsoft Publisher box stating that Publisher has created a
filtered
html version appears. I click ok, another box pops up stating that it
is
publishing html files and then another pop up appears showing the save
to
the
website and finally, I receive another error message stating that
Publisher
could not save the file to the web, check your URL or network
connection
and
try again. I deleted the FTP file I originally used since it didn't
work
for
me and left the http folder. Is there a way to republish my site to the
correct http address again. I am so frustrated with this. The other
website
won't let me load it in ftp or http. Please help. I am somewhat new to
this
and could really use some professional advice, I have read every
support
file
I could find.

Thank you so much in advance.
