Re: Files Corrupted - Not Opening - Publisher 2002 Crashes

Shoot!!

I keep posting in the WRONG forum!!

I hate this mailing list type of message board...
I'm not used to it. I thought I was posting in the
right area.. again.. sheesh..

Well, seeing as this is here already, can I get some help?

It is not web design related though.

It's publisher files I cannot open.
I don't get error messages, eventvwr shows this though:
---------------
Faulting application mspub.exe, version 10.0.6815.0, faulting module
mspub.exe, version 10.0.6815.0, fault address 0x00012ad0.
---------------

I've tried KB articles:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/198256/en-us
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315837/en-us

Even tried this:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/help/HP030889831033.aspx

In the end, I still cannot open both files.
There are other files that open fine. But this is happening
more and more now.

I have purchased office2007 plus. I have enough work
with this: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/products/HA101686761033.aspx
I don't, or rather, can't deal with losing a lot of Data!

Any insight oh wise ones!

Thanks

I assumed that he was not talking about a web publication, even with the

I would add a couple guesses in this post.

Web-Guy also asked this in the MediaCenter newsgroup. It was from over
there that directed him here. I am wondering if he is having web issues or
publication issues.

As Mary suggested in the general Publisher group, have you tried updating
your video driver?

I presume that the files are on your hard drive, and not on a removable
media?

Perhaps it would help if you installed the Office SPs and perhaps XP SPs?

I am starting to see more and more publisher files
corrupted I think?

I cannot open the stupid things.. :-p
I tried please... it still refused! The nerv!

Each time I open the files Publisher Crashes without
evening loading the document. It's a vicious loop!

I've tried opening the document in safe mode, still fails.
I tried not showing the pictures, at first it works.
But after saving, closing, and trying to open again publisher
crashes. I even tried with one file deleting all image objects
that I could discern. Still after saving and closing it began crashing
publisher again. I can pull the text out, but it's the layout I need!

Any ideas?

I am on WinXP Pro. Pub. 2002.
Fresh install of Office XP.

Thank so much!
