Re: My publisher won't publish to my website anymore

I've tried resetting my firewall, virus scan and even turning it all off. I
have tried to use an FTP after it refused to publish. I don't have auto
patches for uploads settings, but I do use XP now. I've been trying to
remember if I bought the publisher before or after I changed computers and
went to XP. I've been trying to find an answer for this problem for several
months, but it seems like it did upload when I first got XP. My IE is v6.0.
I'm using the same virus and firewall that I have used for several years,
Avast. I don't know what FPSE is or how to reinstall and I'm sorry, but the
articles were apparently over my head. My host and I have tried everything
we could, but I still can't do my updates from Publisher. I've tried to
remember everything that I have installed before this happened. I didn't try
to use an FTP till Publisher stopped working. I've checked all the security
settings that I could find and they are all on medium to low. The only thing
that I have changed since the start of the problem was the IPS, and I think I
changed the IPS before I got publisher, but I'm not sure. I've changed from
DSL to Cable and Back to DSL when I moved. I haven't changed my user name or
password at my host and he even reset it to be sure. But I can't login to my
cpanel now either. Sorry, if I'm rambling, but I'm trying to think of
anything that could cause the problem and give you an overview.

Given that you were originally able to upload your files, but suddenly
couldn't would suggest to me that you probably have your computer set to
automatically check for MSFT patches and changes, and that a recent patch or
"upgrade", changed the security settings on your computer. The error message
about the firewall suggests the same. Try disabling the firewall completely.
Disable your antivirus. If you downloaded and installed IE7, consider going
to Add and Remove and uninstalling it. It will roll back to IE6. And while
you are there look for recent "patches" to uninstall. What else if anything
have you installed or changed? In other words, look for what you changed on
your computer that changed the security settings such that you can no longer
upload.
With that said, were you using HTTP uploading protocol vs. FTP originally?
That could mean that the FPSE on your host have become corrupt and need to
be reinstalled. This can happen if you tried to use FTP. Here are three
articles about uploading that might give you more insight into your issue.
If you happen to figure it out, please post back so others will benefit.

I have Pub.2007. When I first got it, I set it up and I could make my[quoted text clipped - 16 lines]
changes and click publish and it would upload without FTP. Suddenly, it
I tried to reset FTP and firewall, but couldn't make it work. Any
suggestions? I'll try anything once.
