Have you tried clicking on the bar, and telling IE to unblock the pics? I
have previously guessed that there was a new security setting in IE7 that
was stopping the preview. This seems to confirm it. Please try it again, and
this time note the specific warning message and post back. Perhaps the good
folks on the IE newsgroup will know where to change that setting. You could
also experiment with the security settings yourself. Thanks.

I will try the uninstall and install of IE7 and let you know how it goes.

I have noticed that there is a narrow bar at the top of the preview page
when i open my email and web browser, it says that pics have been blocked
'to help protect my computer security, Internet Explorer has blocked this
website...etc.' This warning has just started appearing at about the same
time as the problems with pub 2000.

I find myself hoping that the problem you and others are having with IE7,
is how it was installed. I posted my last list of suggestions before I
posted the question of this issue to the IE newsgroup. As I perused the
many posts from the many people who were having all kinds of problems
with IE7, with all kinds of programs, it became obvious that it is going
to take a while to shake out the problems with IE7. It is also clear the
IE MVPs really don't like the way IE7 is installed as an automatic
update, and feel that many of the problems are associated with that.
Perhaps that is why I have no problems with previewing pages with IE7 in
Pub 2000, 2003 or 2007. I downloaded and installed IE7 manually, and do
not allow automatic updates.

I appreciate you reporting back about the video driver. That helped
eliminate one possible reason. Now if you could make the time to read
through the various resource links provided by PA Bear, and uninstall,
download IE7 via the link and reinstall as per Sandi's instructions,
perhaps we will find the solution. As I said, I can't reproduce your
issue, so I have to rely on your help and others that are posting these
problems to try the different fixes, and report back. I will appreciate
it, and so will others who will be posting in the months ahead. Thanks.

It is strange that this computer (home laptop) which is connected by
broadband and is auto updated weekly at the microsoft site is the one
with all the problems yet my other computer (work desktop) which is
connected only ocassionally by dial up and not updated does not have the
problems.

I have a laptop at home and a desktop at work, both are running the same
version of office and pub 2000 and most of the other software is the
same on both computers. The home computer is connected by broadband and
is regurly updated. I do my design work on my home laptop and I can't
see the pics, then when I take the designs via cd or memory stick to my
work desktop I can see the pictures, web previews and everything works
fine.

I think my work desktop computer is operating an older version of IE
because I haven't had it connected to the net for a number of months now
and pub 2000 works very well on it.
