image issues

Using Publisher 2003, didn't know what embedded objects meant when I
said ok. What a mistake! I've had nothing but problems since.
Publisher not only changed images to gif from jpeg but duplicated
images. Everything is doubled. Even went back, deleted images, and
reinsert them - same problem which is not loading images. Then went to
webhosting side and uploaded original jpegs to overwrite all
previously uploaded. Still not showing images on web. But when I look
at published pages before "publishing" to website, all images are
there. Please, don't tell me I have to totally rebuild web site in
order to get rid of automatic embedding!
