Re: Why would my website update only publish part way, not online?

Another thought that might make you more comfortable. Make your connection
to your site, and copy the current files on your site to your hard
drive...download them, and save a copy. Then you could always upload them
again if necessary.

Chances are that when you redesigned the document, you did something that
makes it choke when you tried to upload. One common error is a design
element overlapping the work area and the scratch area. Run the design
checker under tools, and see if that finds a problem.

Then delete all your old files off your web host site. This means the
index.htm file and the index_files folder, but not any other file or
folder
that might be there, as they are probably server files that are necessary
for your webstats to work and such. Then try uploading again.

I updated my website recently (Publisher 2003), in early December, and
it
worked just fine. After I had a web optimisation done, suggesting
improvements, I completely overhauled my site and tried uploading. I
received the message "(Publisher could not save the file - check URL or
network connection and try again)", but it didn't show up online. It
did,
however, show up in My Network Places, and in the admin area at my web
host
site. Not all of the pages showed up there either. When I talked to
my
web
hoster, he looked at my files and said that it was saving them to ftp
instead
of http. I'm confused as to why that would happen, when it wasn't
before.
I
also have to admit I'm a complete neophyte when it comes to computers
and
code.
Any ideas?

Thanks, I'll give the design checker a try. Will removing old files
affect my site that's currently online? Sorry to sound so ignorant
(unlearned) about this...
