When I conpressed images in pub
pub file went from 18 megs to 3 megs
I uploaded to server and got it to work
some of the png files are still 150 kb
I will resize these in irfranview to about 25 and it should load alot faster
Thanks

I want to thanks you David for all the help
I followed your advice reducing images pub file was 18 meg after
compressing it is 3 megs
When I pre view as a webpage it works great, but when I upload to server
it does not display, its a server setting or somethig
Since I could not get it to work I uploaded backup that I made before I
started screwing arround
everything works now fast as they are small jpg's, but of course its not
updated
the only page they ever need to change is the rates and dates to update
the calendar bookings
is there a way I could just change this page without exporting the whole
site to web
or an easy work arround?

John, I think I/we have overloaded you with too much information. You do
not edit the images AFTER you Publish to The Web, and produce the HTML.
If you do not have the original images, then forget about trying to
optimize them before inserting them into your Publisher doc.
Let's back up and take this step by step.
1. First step is to open your Publisher file, go to Tools > Options > Web
Tab and uncheck "Rely on VML..." and "Allow PNG...".
2. Then read the article: "Compress graphics file sizes to create smaller
Publisher Web pages":
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/assistance/HA011266301033.aspx Then
compress the graphics in your Publisher document as per that article.
3. Use FTP to access the web host server, and delete all the old
Publisher HTML files. This would include your index.htm file and the
index_files folder.
4. Go back to your Publisher file, and Publish to the Web, produce a new
index.htm file and index_files folder and use FTP to upload these new
HTML files.
5. Post back when you are done, and we will look at your site again.

How do I make publisher publish jpg instead of png?
Just relized reason for being so slow
I only have publisher file, not the seperate images
If I import png then pub exports png is that how it works?

In Firefox they load much much faster
Can I convert them from png to jpg in irfranview then substitute file
after I have published, or must I import jpg's into pub first?

So far I like 03 a lot...so does my printer buddy. He says it's got
more
commercial stuff. I'll find out soon enough I have to finish my
non-profit's
Playbill in 30 days.
The copy I have came with Digital Imaging 10, which I haven't
installed yet.
If I doo I think my machine will be on image editing overload, but am
tempted to try it. What can I say? Hi my name is Rob and I'm a
software
junkie. Hi Rob!
I have Elements as well. But, still end up going back to PS6.
Oh,,,dang I just realized we're wayyyy ot on this..sorry.

| Ha...If the truth be told, I still use Pub 2000 for everything
except
| testing purposes and helping out here. It does everything I want to
do,
and
| I prefer it to Pub2003 for web building especially. I know, Pub 2003
is

switch...guess

|
| I have Irfanview installed, but rarely use it. I use PS Elements for
most
| things and probably a half dozen other apps for one or two
functions. For
| example I like the "warmify" quick fix in Picasa from Google, and
haven't
| been able to duplicate it in Elements. It seems like every time I
buy a
new
| piece of equipment, I get a new photo editor or organizer, and have
just
| quit installing them, especially after loading a couple that took
over the
| defaults...
