Re: May I vent?

I hate that when that happens! ;-)

Thanks for posting back. I am sure that information will help someone else.

Thanks for your help. After much experimenting, I found that McAfee
Privacy
Service (a part of the security suite) and the MS Office updates don't
work
together. The problem was solved by uninstalling the Privacy Service.

If you truly want to switch to a different program, there are other

However, the problem is not so much with Publisher as it is with
Microsoft
updates. They can, and do screw things up on occasion, and you should
show
some discretion about always updating. You might very well have the same
problem with another program... Which update did you install? Perhaps go
to
the Microsoft site and read up on that update and what it does, and it
may
tell you what was changed and why you are having this problem.

It sounds like the update has made your computer "safer" in spite of what
you might want. Perhaps if you turn off the Microsoft firewall while
uploading it would help. The update obviously changed some setting that
is
stopping your upload, so look around in IE and your security settings to
see
if you can spot something. Also, you might simply uninstall the update,
or
restore your computer to a time before the update...

Here is an article about troubleshooting uploading problems that might
lead
to a solution:

You are perhaps the second person to post with this problem. If you find
the
solution, please post back. Thanks.

I had a perfectly functioning web site that I frequently updated. HAD
until
Microsoft advised me to update Microsoft Office. Now when I try to
"publish
to web" and type in the http:// address everything works until I get to
the
dialog box labelled "Saving". At that point either Publisher hangs up
or
I
get the message "Unable to save...check your URL or web connection.
I'm
connected to the web, the web address hasn't changed, and it's unlikely
that
I've typed it incorrectly a few hundred times. What other good and
functioning programs are out there to create a website besides
Publisher
or
other "work when it wants to" MS product?
