John,
What exactly do you mean by "weekly snapshots"? When I think of
"snapshot" I think of a static file - something you get when you create
a master file using Insert/Projects and uncheck the 'link to project'
box at the bottom of the Insert Project window.
If you create a master by using Insert/Projects and leaving the 'link to
project' box checked (the default) you will have a dynamic master. And
as Jan said in his response, if you create external
predecessor/successor links between files, saving the master and each
subproject file will preserve the links. No need to rebuild (or take a
snapshot of) the files each week, simply open the master.
